What a Tourism Website in Marrakech Needs to Win Direct Bookings

Tours, transfers, rentals, riads: what a Marrakech tourism website needs so travelers book with you directly, from languages and prices to pickup points and reviews.

Travelers find Marrakech businesses on their phone, compare a few options in seconds, and often book from a riad terrace the night before. Booking platforms bring you clients, but they take a commission on every booking. Your own website is how you keep the next booking, the referral and the Google search for yourself.

Here is what that website needs. Most of it is not about design.

Built for a phone, on hotel wifi

Your visitors are on phones, often on slow hotel wifi or roaming data. Every second of loading costs you bookings.

  • Keep pages light. Compress photos, and skip the huge video that plays on its own.
  • Put the price and the “Book” button on the first screen, not at the bottom.
  • Make every button big enough for a thumb.

More on this in responsive web design techniques.

Speak your visitors’ languages

English and French are the minimum. Look at where your clients actually come from: Spanish, Italian or German can pay for themselves quickly. Translate everything that matters for the decision, prices, what is included and the cancellation policy, not just the headings. Give each language its own URL so Google shows the right version, and avoid automatic translation widgets.

Prices in euros, and what is included

Tourists think in their own currency. Show prices in euros, with dirhams alongside if you like, and say clearly what the price covers:

  • Hotel or riad pickup, and from which areas.
  • Meals, water and entrance fees.
  • Guide, driver, and the language they speak.
  • Anything paid on the spot, like tips or optional extras.

Hidden extras are the fastest way to a bad review.

Booking in under a minute

The booking flow should be: pick a date, the number of people and any options, see the total, pay a deposit, get an instant confirmation. Every extra step loses people.

  • Show real availability, so nobody books a full day.
  • Send the confirmation straight away by email, and on WhatsApp if you can.
  • If you also sell on platforms, keep your availability in sync everywhere, or you will overbook.
  • Ask only for what you need: name, phone with country code, email, and hotel name for pickups.

Pickups and meeting points

Medina addresses confuse everyone, drivers included. Ask for the hotel or riad name during the booking, share a Google Maps pin for the meeting point, and send the driver’s name and number the day before. It sounds small. It is what travelers remember, and write about.

Trust: reviews, real photos, clear rules

  • Show your Google or TripAdvisor rating, with a link to the real reviews.
  • Use real photos of your guides, vehicles, camp or balloon, not stock images.
  • Write the cancellation policy in plain words, and make it easy to find.
  • If you are a licensed travel agency or transport company, say so.

Be found by people searching “thing + Marrakech”

Travelers search for an activity and a place: “hot air balloon Marrakech”, “Agafay desert dinner”, “Marrakech airport transfer”. Give each activity its own page, with that phrase in the title and a clear description. Then:

  • Set up your Google Business Profile, with real photos and your hours.
  • Ask every happy client for a review, right after the trip, while they still remember it.
  • Answer the questions travelers ask, like the best season, what to wear and how long it takes, on your pages or in short articles.

Our SEO checklist for new websites covers the technical side.

WhatsApp, and fast replies

Many travelers message before they book, usually with one question. Add a WhatsApp button on every activity page with a pre-filled message that names the activity, so you know straight away what they are asking about. The business that answers first usually gets the booking.

Give a reason to book direct

Make booking on your own site the better deal: free pickup, more flexible cancellation, or a small extra. If you list on platforms, read your contract first, as some include rules on pricing elsewhere. Then say it clearly on the site: “Book direct: free hotel pickup.”

A quick checklist

  1. Fast on a phone, with the price and Book button on the first screen.
  2. At least English and French, each with its own URL.
  3. Prices in euros, with everything included spelled out.
  4. Booking in under a minute, with a deposit and instant confirmation.
  5. Pickup details collected, meeting point on a map.
  6. Real reviews, real photos, clear cancellation policy.
  7. One page per activity, and a Google Business Profile.
  8. WhatsApp button on every activity page.
  9. A clear reason to book direct.
